Relief Society Birthday Celebration

Oh my did we have a wonderful night last Thursday. It. Was. Perfect. A huge thank you to Kay and all of her helpers for creating such a wonderful ambiance, tasty menu, and entertainment. Thanks to all of you who brought your treasures and antiques to display on our table; each person took a minute to explain their treasure. It was so fun to hear these sisters talk and share about the past.

The room was beautifully decorated with lights strung from the ceiling, the table of antiques, tables with cakes for the centerpieces, shrubbery (yes, shrubbery), and a whole lot more that my bad memory didn't capture.

Dinner was a tasty chicken pot pie, a Lion House orange roll...nuff said, and a great salad made by Gabi Bodell. After we ate we got to cut into the CAKES! I saw many people practicing self discipline and not even eating dessert (the orange roll was enough) but there were plenty of us who took full advantage of what was before our eyes.

Our muscially gifted Wendy Musig prepared a choral number that set a beautiful tone to the evening. They sang As Sisters in Zion and I think we all felt like sisters.

Grocery Guru Activity

We had a very interesting night learning how to "coupon" from the Grocery Guru. It was pretty informative and surprising to hear you could get your groceries for so cheap. He boasts that you can get $100 worth of groceries for $35. I was incredulous and wanted to see for myself. So, the next Monday Sheree Robinson, Joan W.'s daughter, a friend of mine, and myself went shopping with him at Macey's. We followed him around and picked up exactly what he told us. It took about 30 minutes. He gave us the coupons we would need and we all checked out with full baskets for ONLY $35. The only catch is it's probably not food on your regular shopping list...but it might come in handy for a superbowl party or a toddler birthday party.
