Colorful Diet and exercise class....

Thank you so much Amy and Paul Lemmon for
teaching a class on wellness. They gave us handouts on how to
remove, restore, and re balance the body.
They talked about the colorful diet and how those foods can help
keep our bodies working correctly.
*****
Red foods give energy, clean out, and build the immune system. (strawberries)
Orange foods help the blood, digestion and repair damage. ( carrots, squash)
Yellow foods help with your knowledge, indigestion, and the nervous system. (pineapple, bananas)
Blue foods help the mind and body, headaches, throats (blueberries)
violet foods help strengthen the nervous system and your mental health. (eggplant)
indigo foods help with your sight, hearing, eyes, ears skin, lungs (olives)
******
The 4 major things we can do to help our health is exercise,
remove cheese, white bread and sugar.
******
After Amy and Paul taught us we did yoga and exercised, with all of us SWEATING.
We had 9 grain bread that Amy had made. Fruit and veggies.
It was a wonderful Relief Society Meeting.

Relief Society Service Project for April..

Joyce Dahl suggested a wonderful service project for our Relief Society. She works at a school where bibs are needed for students who have disabilities.
We met at Marci Shaw's home and with 4 sewing machines, made over 55 towels into bibs. Some of the sisters cut bias tape and pinned, while the others sewed and clipped threads.
It felt like the olden days when we would get together and make projects, quilt together and socialize.

We finished making all the bibs. It was a fun night, doing something worthwhile for children who go through several bibs a day.
Thank you Joyce, for the suggestion and supplying most of the towels.

After we completed our task, we snacked on banana cookies and coconut bundt cake..The cake was so delicious we wanted to share the recipe with all of you.

Bread making Class

Chrissy's Whole Wheat Bread Recipe:

Prep Time: 2 hours (took us about 1 hr. from start to finish)
Makes 4 medium loaves

1/2 cup warm water
Dash of sugar
7 cups whole wheat flour
2/3 cup canola oil (or veg. oil)
1 Tablespoon salt
2 Tablespoons yeast
5 cups hot water
4-5 cups white flour
2/3 cup honey

-Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water, sprinkle with a dash of sugar and set
aside
-Pour 5 cups hot water in mixer, add 7 cups whole wheat flour, mixing one cup
at a time, with a hook
-add oil
-add honey (use the same measuring cup as you did for the oil)
-Add salt and mix 2-3 minutes
-Add yeast mixture and mix (should be very moist)
-Add 4-5 cups white flour, you know it's enough when the dough pulls away
from the side.
-Knead with machine for 10 minutes
-Place 1 Tablespoon of oil (can add more as needed) on counter and dump the bread dough on counter
-Can shape bread into loaves or just plop them in GREASED bread pans
-Cover and allow to sit for 30 minutes (or until it has risen to top of the
pan or less)
(Chrissy didn't allow the bread to rise..she just put it in the pre-heated oven) Who knew you didn't have to let it raise?..It turned out perfect.

-Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes
-Butter the top of loaves and remove to cooling rack
We had it with butter and jam..It was "delicious"

Thank you so much Chrissy and Marci for a fun night... Laughing and talking together while we ate buttery hot bread = perfect Relief Society activity.... Yum!!!!
